The coupe SUV is slowly gaining prominence in the eyes of car buyers. 

We have seen such body types from the German Trio and of late Porsche introduced the Cayenne with a coupé body shape. Renault is also joining the game. The company showcased the Arkana Coupe SUV as a concept at the Moscow Auto Show last year and is now finally introducing the production version of the SUV and is gearing up to launch it in the Russian market.

Now the interesting thing is that Arkana also has relevance for the Indian market. 

This is underlined by a modified version of the BO platform that spawned the Renut Kaptur which is sold in the Russian market. Yes! It is similar to the Captain which is a part of Renault India's portfolio and French carmakers may consider offering it in our market as well. At a distance of 4.5 meters, the Arkana is a C-segment compact SUV and is powered by a 1.3-liter TCE petrol engine developed simultaneously by Renault, Nissan and Mitsubishi. 

It puts out a peak torque of 148 Bhp and 250 Nm and is housed in an X-Tronic gearbox. 

It is also equipped with a smart all-mode 4x4 intelligent permanent four-wheel drive system that was also commissioned by the alliance. However, if it makes its way into the Indian market, it is likely to share its powertrain with the Captur and Duster which is a 1.5-liter, 108 bhp diesel.

As far as it looks, the Arkana bear resembles Captain in front when it comes to design,

 but has different elements that give it a new look. C-shaped LED DRLs are the main attraction and all-LED headlamps are sleek. The bumper is also tweaked while the bumper profiling is angular. The taping roofline and panoramic glass roof add aesthetics and the massive wheel arches cover 17-inch alloy wheels. It is also found around plastic cladding and silver skid plates that go with the SUV design.

The Renault Arkana Coupé SUV is also huge, 

and gets a new multimedia system and MULTI-SENSE settings. The central console for the Renault Easy Link multimedia system is equipped with an 8-inch touchscreen interface, which supports Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and Yandex Auto (used in Russia). The MULTI-SENSE technology gives the driver a choice of three driving modes (Eco, Sport, My sense) and it gets eight embroidery colors. As with all seats, the boot space is 508 liters which can be increased to 1333 liters by splitting the rear seats.
