2020 Audi A7 Performance
A powerful V-6 and standard all-wheel drive ensure that the 2020 Audi A7 handles exceptionally well and accelerates.
The 2020 Audi A7 comes with a turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 underhood that delivers 335 hp to all four wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission for faster acceleration. Paired with sticky tires and well-weighted steering, the car is a reassuring, capable handler, even if it is short on sports car fun.
We rate the 2020 A7 out of 10 for its performance, extra points for handling and acceleration. If evaluated separately, Hotter S7 will score higher.
The turbocharged V-6 on the A7 emits quite an interesting weakness as it drives the car forward.
The 7-speed gearbox's paddle shifters ignite by rapid gear changes, even though some rivals offer more cogs. A rough-rimmed steering wheel feels great in the driver's hands, though the actual steering feel is limited at best.
Standard all-wheel drive includes a rear-biased 40/60 torque split,
although 80 percent of the power can move in slippery conditions. In cold climates drivers want to consider winter tires, especially with summer tires that can be included with the option package.
At the bottom, the A7 uses an air suspension with adaptive dampers that hold the sloped terrain while providing stable, flat handling. Even the optional 21-inch wheels with their low-profile tires do not distract the cabin on sharp bumps.
An optional all-wheel-steering system replaces the rear wheels in the form of 2.5 wheels
and the ratio of steering to front equals more than 3.6 feet of the car's turning radius. At higher speeds, the rear wheels can move up to 5 degrees as opposed to the fronts to give more confidence-inspiring operation.
The S7 leads with a 444-hp 2.9-liter twin-turbo V-6 that sends power to all four wheels via an excellent 8-speed automatic. Audi says that the S7 Volts is 60 mph in 4.5 seconds and we obey them.
2020 Audi A7 Comfort and quality
The 2020 Audi A7 is a technical masterpiece, and also huge.
With its hatchback size, the 2020 Audi A7 is more useful than similar sedans, even if the rear-seat head room suffers slightly. We rate the big five doors at 8 out of 10, it offers points for front-seat comfort as well as cargo utility and luxurious fitting.
Power-adjustable front seats offer good support and a wide range of adjustments,
and both heating and cooling functions are available. Rear-seat leg room is good, and cushions are helpful, but low-ceiling passengers force their heads to duck.
Where the A7 really stands out is in its cargo utility. It does not match a wagon, but the 18.9 cubic-foot trunk extends over 49 cubic feet with the rear seats folded forward. Forget a crossover or SUV.
The A7's dash is dominated by large screens that handle almost every function.
They contrast with more traditional luxury cues such as soft leather, durable material and gorgeous open fresh wood trim. A bonus is ambient light that helps the cabin get a warm feel to reduce some of its inherent sterility.
2020 Audi A7 Features
The 2020 Audi A7 offers a great driving experience, as it needs to be above $ 70,000.
The 2020 Audi A7 is an expensive mid-size luxury car, but the generous equipment helps justify the hefty price of its entry.
We score the car at 8 out of 10 for its good standard fare, massive touchscreen, and a wide array of options.
The base cars, priced at $ 69,995,
come with a pair of 8.6-inch touchscreens loaded with Audi's infotainment software as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. Advanced safety features, LED headlights, heated front seats, leather upholstery, and a trio of USB inputs meet its standard features.
Most buyers will opt for Premium Plus, and we can see why.
This is the trim we buy, as it builds at a premium with a 12.3-inch instrument cluster, a 10.1-inch large infotainment screen, and a few more features such as Bang and Olufense audio. It is also the gateway to a driver-assistance package with adaptive cruise control and active lane control, as well as massage of the seats. We'll take our green color, please.
Topping the lineup is the Prestige,
which costs around $ 77,500 and extends alloy wheels up to 20 inches and includes a head-up display, four-zone climate control, HD Matrix lights and more.
The S7 is offered in Premium Plus and Prestige trim levels that cost at least $ 85,000.
They are similarly equipped with the A7 (aside from the performance hardware we cover above) and the most expensive at just over six figures.
Audi's warranty includes the A7 for four years or 50,000 miles, and includes the first maintenance trip and four years of roadside service.
