Kia Motors India has released an official rendering of the upcoming Kia Sonate
Subcompact SUV. The all-new Sonnet is set to make its official debut on August 7, and the latest sketches give us a preview of what the exterior and interior of the SUV will look like. The Kia Sonat will be the company's second SUV in India after Kia Celtos and Carnival SUV and will be the third product overall. The overall design and style appear to be largely in line with the pre-production concept car, which was showcased at Auto Expo 2020.
Talking about the design of the Kia Sonnet, Karim Habib,
Senior Vice President and Head of Kia Global Design at Kia Motors Corporation said, "We are extremely excited to introduce the new Kia Sonnet to the world, a strong SUV featuring a strong And muscular character was found. Only in very large vehicles. Keeping this in mind, we designed this SUV with a distinctively sporty approach, a confident stance and a dynamic silhouette. For the range and selection of colors and materials Its uncomplicated focus can only be inspired by the great cultural. The legacy that our designers found all over India. "
Rendering shows that like the concept car,
the production version of the new sonnet will also come with a 3D 'stepwell' geometric grille mesh pattern with a similar wide tiger nose grille. The SUV also gets sleek LED headlamps and LED day-time running lamps, as well as muscular front bumper with bold lines, large airdam and faux skid plate with some black cladding and silver styling elements. Beef wheel arch cladding, two-tone black roof, profiles with bold scalloped lines with roof rails, a sloping C-pillar and small quarter glass that give the SUV a distinctive look. At the rear, the sonnet comes with a curved windshield and sleek wraparound LED taillights that are connected to a single LED strip, creating the impression of a single element. The tailgate also comes with some bold sculpted lines and a rugged rear bumper with heavy cladding, silver design elements and faux diffusers.
As for the interior, we've already seen spy photos of the cabin,
and these correspond to the rendered production car. The upcoming sonnet gets a single housing for both the instrument cluster and the first-in-segment 10.25-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system, which will also feature UVO connected car technology. The instrument panel comes with a MID unit and separates digital read-outs for the speedometer. The dashboard also has vertical air-con vents with thick silver bezels and similar bezels around the gear lever.
Also, while the renders have a multifunctional steering wheel perfectly round,
the Sonat in the spy photos comes with a flat-bottom unit, which again indicates that the Kia will offer both the HT line and GT line options, and after. Gonna get flat-bottom steering. The steering wheel also gets controls to select different drive and traction modes. Other features will include engine start / stop buttons, automatic climate control, central armrest and more. Kia says that the cabin will also have a two-layer tray for storing mobile devices and other items. Kia says the sonnet will have an extensive list of active and passive security devices. It will be equipped with six airbags - including front, side and curtain airbags.
The powertrain and other technical details will be revealed at the time of the official debut,
however, we expect the Kia Sonat to borrow a BS6 compliant engine from the Hyundai Venue. It includes 1.2-liter petrol, 1.5-liter diesel and 1.0-liter GDi turbo petrol engines. But Sonnet will also receive a clutch-less IMT or 'intelligent manual transmission' - which was recently introduced at the Hyundai Venue.
