After getting good response to the Triber MPV,

 Renault is now preparing a new sub-compact SUV for the Indian market. The new 4-meter SUV will launch in India in the second half of this year. Recently, it was revealed by Renko India CEO Venkataraman Mamilapalle. Now the new report has claimed that this new SUV will be launched under the name Renault Kiger.

French automobile company Renault has trademarked the name Kiger in India. 

Kiger is the name of a type of horse found in America. The 'Kaigar' trademark has been registered after Tribar. Renault's global debut of this new SUV will be at the Auto Expo in February, while its market launch is expected during the festive season this year.

Renault's new SUV will be based on the CMF-A modular platform. The same platform has also been used for Quid and Tribar. It is expected to be the lowest priced SUV of its segment. Renault Kiger will compete with other SUVs including Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300.

Design and Interior

Kiger's design can be taken to some extent from the company's Tribar and Duster. The new SUV can see triple-layered grille with Renault logo, projector headlamps with LED DRL, faux skid plates, black plastic cladding and strong crease on the side. The interior of the SUV and most of the features are expected to be Renault Tribe ones.

Power

The Kiger SUV will feature a 1.0-liter petrol engine with a Trimber. In the Tribar, this engine generates 71bhp of power and 96Nm of torque. The Kiger will have a turbocharged version of this engine, which will generate more power and torque than the Tribar. The SUV will get 5-speed manual and AMT gearbox options.

Cost

Renault Kiger will be the lowest priced SUV of its segment. Its price is expected to be between 6 lakh to 8 lakh rupees. The new SUV will be compliant with the new safety and crash test norms. Also, all the mandatory safety features will also be available in the SUV.
