Hyundai Motors is the second largest passenger car manufacturer in India. One of the popular cars in the premium hatchback segment in the company's line up is the Elite i20 (Elite i20). In this segment, the Elite i20 competes with cars like Maruti Suzuki Baleno (Maruti Suzuki Baleno), Toyota Glanza (Toyota Glanza), Honda Jazz (Honda Jazz) and Tata Altroz (Tata Altroz). Hyundai has been working on the Next Generation i20 for quite some time now. Studio photos of this new car were leaked on the internet last month. Here we are telling you which engine will be used in the upcoming Hyundai Elite i20 and what will be its specifications.
Engine option
The new Hyundai Elite i20 will be offered in two engine options. 1.0-liter, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine and 1.5-liter diesel engine. The 1.0-liter turbocharged unit has been given by the company in its other models Hyundai Venue (Hyundai Venue), Hyundai Grand i10 Nios (Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS) and Hyundai Aura (Hyundai Aura).
The engine
The 1.0-liter turbo petrol engine will produce the same power as the Venue compact SUV. This engine produces 120 PS and a peak torque of 172 Nm. The 1.5-liter diesel engine is the same engine that was recently introduced according to BS6 (BS-6) fuel emission standards in Venue and other Hyundai models. The diesel engine produces 100 PS of power. The company may also launch Hyundai 1.2 liter petrol which was recently introduced as per BS-6 standards. The 1.2 petrol unit generates torque of 83 Ps and 113 Nm.
Gearbox
Talking about the gearbox, the company will launch the new Hyundai i20 with both manual and automatic transmission options. There is also a possibility of getting a DCT (dual-clutch transmission) with an automatic 1.0-liter turbo petrol engine which has been given in the earlier variants. The turbo petrol engine will also get a 6-speed manual gearbox. The 1.2-liter petrol and 1.5-liter diesel engines are likely to be offered only with a manual transmission.
Design
Talking about the design, a completely new design can be seen in the new i20. Wide grilles can be given in front of this car. Like other Hyundai models, the i20 will also get a number of features. It has BlueLink connected car features with the touchscreen infotainment system, wireless charging, reverse parking sensor, and camera. Hyundai may launch its updated Elite i20 in the mid-2020s. This car will compete with Maruti Baleno and Tata Altroz. It is expected that the prices will remain the same as the current version and the price of the base variant can start from 5.5 lakhs.
